I’m looking at my options for returning to school for an MSW…and am interested in on-line education as I am an older, single woman supporting herself during this very tough economic period. My Bachelor’s degree is from Bridgewater State College, now Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts, in Social Work, however, obtained in 1996. Currently, I live in Washington. Are there any stipulations regarding residancy, i.e., within New England vs. outside N.E., or even ME, for that matter with regard to tuition costs? Also, what weight is placed on cummulative GPA? If I remember correctly, my cum was below 2.9. :(

Is there any sort of life experience credit given in lue of taking a class? I am over 50 years old.

P.S. Amy, your presentation on DV/IPV was very good. I mostly apprecitate the refresher on why it is important NOT to do family counseling, in an effort to keep the couple connected, as the basis of the relationship is not equal.

    Catherine,

Thank you for your interest in UNE’s MSW program. We do not have requirements for our online students to visit the campus at any time and our tuition rate is the same for both online and campus based students; $750/credit.

Our GPA requirement is a 3.0 in the last 60 credits of the applicant’s undergraduate degree. Work experience does look great on an application; however, we do not give credit for life or work experience.
