MSW program graduate named a Dedicated and Deserving Social Worker

Ken Howard, MSW, was named one of Social Work Today magazine's 10 Dedicated and Deserving Social Workers of the year for his work in assisting homosexual men who are living with HIV and AIDS.

As an HIV sufferer and a cancer survivor, Howard has been a practicing psychotherapist in California for 18 years.

Howard found his career path as a supporter of homosexual men living with HIV and AIDS after earning his MSW degree, he explained. His private practice aims to assist a large spectrum of men, from those who have been recently diagnosed with the disease, to homosexual men looking to become more successful in the business world.

The social worker is also the author of Self-Empowerment: Have the Life You Want- How to Close the Gap Between How Life is, and How You Would Like it to Be. This book, his first, is scheduled to be released soon.

According to Social Work Today, other winners of the award include Neena Bizby, Connie Bookman and Timothy Chamberlain. All but one of the 10 winners of the award holds a Masters degree in social work.
